About Carol Lorance

"After being in love with photography as a kid and adult, I saw a silk painting demonstration on a craft show while roaming through channels on television.  In a cloud of exhaustion after a particularly bad shift in the hospital as a nurse, I was instantly captivated, wondering if I could do this type of painting.  I ordered supplies, bought an instructional DVD, and joined the silk painting guild in the UK via the internet.  My first 2 pieces weren’t great, but they weren’t too bad either (They actually sold in an art  auction).  After several pieces, I was in love with silk and dyes. “  Carol states, “the feel of cool silk in my fingers and the touch of dye or paint on the silk is mesmerizing .  The image seems to have a mind of it’s own and the wonderful flow creates an almost zen feeling".

As a local Oklahoma artist and owner of Dragonfly Silks,  Carol  has a degree in Graphic Design.  Among numerous festivals she has shown her paintings at 50 Penn Place Art Gallery in  Oklahoma City, The Red Dirt Gallery in Oklahoma City , the Frontier Museum,  G Gallery and Glass in Guthrie, Ok and Paseo Art Works,Okc in the past few years. She is currently the manager of the Red Dirt Art Gallery where she teaches classes at Plaza Mayor.
